The Wheel

Q: What size is the wheel?A: The wheel comes in two different sizes with the same diameter of 9.8" (250mm). The depth of the Medium wheel is 2.76" (70mm) and the depth of the Large wheel is 3.94" (100mm).

Q: What animals can use the LittleLegs wheels?A: The LittleLegs wheel is designed for a variety of small pets. Both the Medium and Large models have the same 9.8-inch (250 mm) diameter, which is suitable for many common companion animals. The difference between the two models is the running depth:Medium (70 mm / 2.76") – Best suited for mice, dwarf hamsters, Chinese hamsters, gerbils and other similarly sized small pets.Large (100 mm / 3.94") – Recommended for Syrian hamsters, hedgehogs and pets that benefit from additional running space.The wheel is not big enough for fullgrown Chinchillas and Rats.

Q: Does it require batteries?A: No. The LittleLegs wheel does not use batteries. It is powered continuously via a standard USB connection using any typical USB wall charger or powered USB port. This provides reliable, uninterrupted power for the built-in display and automatically uploads your pet's activity data to the cloud.

Q: Is it silent?A: Yes. The LittleLegs wheel is designed to run extremely quietly. It uses a high-quality 608ZZ precision bearing together with a thrust bearing to provide smooth, low-friction operation. Under normal use, you'll hear very little more than the sound of your pet's feet on the running surface.

Q: How do I clean it?A: The LittleLegs wheel is designed to be easy to clean. You can wipe the wheel while it remains attached to the base, or remove it for more thorough cleaning. Two Allen wrenches are included, making removal, reinstallation and tension control quick and simple.Clean the wheel using a soft cloth with mild soap and room-temperature water. Do not use hot water, as high temperatures may cause the wheel to warp or deform. Before reconnecting power, ensure the wheel is completely dry.DO NOT immerse the base housing containing the electronics in water.

Q: Can it be used without the app?A: Yes. Once the wheel has been set up, it continues to operate independently without the app being open. The wheel connects directly to the internet to upload activity data to the cloud, while the app lets you view statistics, manage settings and monitor your pet's exercise history anytime.

Q: Is the app free?A: Yes. The LittleLegs app is free to download and use. It contains no advertisements and does not require a subscription.

Q: Is the app available on Android and iOS?A: Yes. The LittleLegs app is available for both Android and iOS and offers the same intuitive interface and features on each platform, so you can enjoy the same experience regardless of your device.

Q: Can multiple wheels be connected?A: Yes. The LittleLegs app supports multiple wheels, making it ideal for breeders, multi-pet households, or anyone who wants to monitor more than one wheel from a single app. Each wheel has its own settings, activity history, and statistics.

Q: Can multiple family members view the same wheel?A: Yes. The person who sets up the wheel becomes its owner. The owner can invite multiple family members or friends to view the wheel's activity, statistics, and running history. Access can be managed at any time from the wheel's settings within the app.

Q: I'd really like to see my little runner's live statistics on my phone or tablet. Is that possible?A: Absolutely! When your mobile device is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your LittleLegs wheel, you can view your little runner's speed, distance, elapsed time, and other activity metrics in real time.And because every runner deserves a little encouragement, you can even tap the Cheer button to play a cheering sound on your phone. Whether your little runner can actually hear your encouragement through the Cosmic Hamster Wheel Network™ is still under scientific investigation, but we choose to believe they appreciate the support anyway! 🐹

Q: Do you support both metric and imperial standards?A: Yes. During the initial setup, you can choose whether the wheel displays measurements in metric or imperial units. The app is more flexible - you can switch between metric and imperial units at any time. Detailed activity statistics can also be viewed in kilometers or meters, or in miles or yards, depending on your preference.

Q: How does the wheel record activity?A: The LittleLegs wheel automatically records your pet's activity—there's nothing you need to start or stop. During setup, the user defines up to two activity shifts per day to match your pet's natural routine. This is especially useful because different animals have different activity patterns. For example, hedgehogs are nocturnal and are most active at night, while hamsters are crepuscular, most active around dawn and dusk.Within a shift, a running session begins automatically as soon as the wheel starts turning and ends when the wheel has been stationary for more than 30 seconds. For every session, the LittleLegs system records the date and time, running duration, distance, average speed, and maximum speed, allowing you to track your little runner's activity over time.

Q: Can I receive notifications?A: Yes. The LittleLegs app can notify you when your little runner starts their first activity session of the shift, so you'll know when they're up and moving.
When the shift ends, you'll also receive a summary notification highlighting the session's key statistics, including distance, duration and speed.

Q: What data does the LittleLegs app collect, and how is my privacy protected?A: We designed the LittleLegs app with privacy in mind. The app only requests permission to send notifications, so you can receive updates about your little runner's activity. It does not track your activity across other apps, collect unnecessary personal information, or request permissions that aren't needed for the app to function.You're always in control of your data. If you choose to delete your account, all of your account information and activity data is permanently removed from our servers.

LittleLegs ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data when you use the LittleLegs mobile app and connected wheel device. This policy applies to users worldwide, including those in the United States, the European Union, and the United Kingdom.

1. Information we collect

We collect the following types of information:

  • Account information — your name and email address when you sign in with Google or Apple.
  • Pet activity data — running sessions recorded by your wheel, including distance, speed, duration, and timestamps.
  • Pet details — species, name, and birthday if you choose to provide them. These are optional and used only to personalise your experience.
  • Device information — your wheel's device ID, firmware version, and local network IP address for connection purposes.
  • Notification tokens — device tokens used to send you push notifications about your pet's activity.

2. How we use your information

We use your information solely to operate the LittleLegs service:

  • To display your pet's activity history and live stats in the app
  • To send you shift start and session summary notifications
  • To allow you to share your wheel with family members or viewers
  • To personalise cheers, fun facts, and in-app messages based on your pet's species
  • To sync data across your devices via Firebase cloud storage

We do not use your data for advertising, sell it to third parties, or use it for any purpose beyond operating the LittleLegs service.

3. Legal basis for processing (GDPR)

For users in the European Union and United Kingdom, we process your personal data under the following legal bases:

  • Contract performance — processing necessary to provide the LittleLegs service you have signed up for
  • Legitimate interests — to maintain security, prevent fraud, and improve the service
  • Consent — for optional features such as push notifications, which you may withdraw at any time

4. Data storage and security

Your data is stored securely using Google Firebase (Firestore and Firebase Authentication), hosted in the United States. Firebase is compliant with GDPR, SOC 2, and ISO 27001 standards. Data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections at all times.

Your wheel communicates with our cloud service over HTTPS using a unique per-device secret key. We do not store your home WiFi credentials — these are saved only on the wheel device itself.

For EU/UK users: by using LittleLegs, your data is transferred to the United States. This transfer is covered by Google's Data Processing Terms and Standard Contractual Clauses under GDPR Article 46.

5. Data sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties except:

  • Google Firebase — our cloud infrastructure provider for data storage and authentication
  • Viewers you invite — family members or friends you explicitly invite can view your wheel's activity data. You can revoke access at any time from the app's Settings screen
  • Legal requirements — if required by applicable law or to protect the rights and safety of our users

6. Children's privacy

LittleLegs is intended for users aged 13 and older. Users between 13 and 17 should have parental consent before using the app. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us at [email protected] and we will delete it promptly.

7. Your rights

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Correction — request correction of inaccurate data
  • Deletion — delete your account and all associated data at any time directly in the app (Settings → Delete Account), or by contacting us
  • Portability — request an export of your activity data
  • Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interests
  • Withdraw consent — withdraw consent for push notifications at any time through your device settings

EU/UK users also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

8. Data retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time directly from the app (Settings → Delete Account) — this immediately removes your account, pet data, and session history from our servers. If you only remove a wheel without deleting your account, its session data is deleted from our servers within 30 days.

Welcome to LittleLegs. These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the LittleLegs mobile app and connected wheel device (together, the "Service"), operated by LittleLegs ("we", "our", or "us"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to create a LittleLegs account. Users between 13 and 17 should have parental or guardian consent before using the Service, consistent with our Privacy Policy.

2. Your account

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account, which is accessed via Google Sign-In or Sign in with Apple. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us promptly at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorized use of your account.

3. The hardware device

LittleLegs offers a physical wheel-mounted sensor device (the "Device"), sold separately from the app.

  • The Device is intended for tracking exercise activity only. It is not a medical, veterinary, or diagnostic device, and should not be used to make health decisions about your pet. If you have concerns about your pet's health or activity levels, consult a licensed veterinarian.
  • The Device requires a stable WiFi connection to sync data. Activity recorded while offline may sync once connectivity is restored, but we do not guarantee data will be captured in all circumstances (e.g. extended outages, hardware malfunction, or physical damage to the Device).
  • Any warranty terms for the Device itself will be provided at the time of purchase and are separate from these Terms, which govern the software Service.

The following sections (3.1–3.3) apply if you own or operate a Device. If you are only a viewer/follower on someone else's wheel, these do not apply to you.

3.1 Placement and use of the Device

If you own or operate a Device, you are solely responsible for determining a safe and appropriate placement of the Device within your pet's cage, wheel, or habitat enclosure. We do not provide veterinary, husbandry, or habitat-safety guidance. Decisions about how, where, and whether to install the Device are made entirely at your own discretion and risk.

3.2 Release and hold harmless — pet health and safety

To the fullest extent permitted by law, if you own or operate a Device, you release, indemnify, and hold harmless LittleLegs, its operators, and its affiliates from any and all claims, liabilities, losses, damages, injuries, illnesses, diseases, disorders, or death of your pet arising from or related to:

  • the use, installation, placement, or proximity of the Device within your pet's cage, wheel, or habitat enclosure;
  • reliance on any data, notification, fun fact, or other content provided by the Service; or
  • any other use of the Device or Service in connection with your pet's habitat or care.

This release applies regardless of whether the harm is alleged to result from a product defect, design choice, negligence, or any other legal theory, except where such a release is prohibited by applicable law. Nothing in this section limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

3.3 Data accuracy — not for scientific or experimental use

Distance, speed, duration, and other activity readings provided by the Service are approximate, derived from magnet-based sensor pulses and calculated conversions. They are provided for general activity tracking and entertainment purposes only.

This data has not been validated for scientific, experimental, veterinary, diagnostic, or research purposes and must not be relied upon for any such purpose. If you intend to use activity data for research, publication, or any purpose requiring validated accuracy, you are responsible for independently verifying it using calibrated instruments.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or interfere with the Service's normal operation
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to another user's account, wheel, or data
  • Use the Service to harass, harm, or invade the privacy of another person
  • Misuse the invite/follower feature to gain access to a wheel you have not been legitimately invited to view

5. Shared access (followers)

The Service allows an account owner to invite other users ("Followers") to view their wheel's activity data. As the account owner, you are responsible for who you invite. You may revoke a Follower's access at any time through the app's Settings. As a Follower, your access may be revoked by the wheel owner at any time, and your continued access is not guaranteed.

6. Your content and data

You retain ownership of the pet activity data, pet details, and any other information you provide through the Service. By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to store, process, and display this data solely for the purpose of operating the Service, as described in our Privacy Policy.

7. Intellectual property

The LittleLegs app, associated software, branding, and Device design are owned by us and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our trademarks, logos, or brand assets beyond what is necessary to use the Service as intended.

8. Service availability

We aim to keep the Service available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. The Service depends on third-party infrastructure (including Google Firebase, Google Sign-In, and Apple's Sign in with Apple), and we are not responsible for outages or issues originating from these providers.

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you of material changes that affect your use of the Service.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that activity data recorded by the Device will be complete, accurate, or uninterrupted.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, LittleLegs and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service. Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms or the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us, if any, in the twelve months preceding the claim.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

11. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you violate these Terms, engage in behavior that harms other users, or misuse the Service. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends, though data deletion will follow the retention terms described in our Privacy Policy.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, USA, without regard to conflict of law principles, unless applicable consumer protection law in your jurisdiction provides otherwise.

Our Story

In early January 2026, we welcomed a little hedgehog into our family — or "hoglet," if you want to be technically accurate. Like any new family member, we wanted to create a cozy, comfortable and functional home for our little guy. One essential item was an exercise wheel to help burn off some of that endless nighttime energy.

We bought several wheels from pet stores and online retailers, but none of them were quite right. They were either too large for our enclosure or too small for our little hedgehog.

As a 3D printing enthusiast, I figured someone must have already designed a printable wheel. After a bit of searching, I found one I liked, scaled it to the right size, and printed it. It worked... almost. The running surface simply wasn't wide enough for our hedgehog to run comfortably.

Since I'm also a product designer, I couldn't resist making a few improvements. I widened the running surface, redesigned the base, and gave our little runner the extra space he deserved.

The new wheel worked well, but before long I found myself thinking, I can make this even better. More importantly, I wasn't happy with the all-plastic rotation mechanism. I wanted something smoother, quieter, and built to last. That was the beginning of redesigning the wheel from the ground up.

What I thought would be a simple weekend project quickly grew into something much bigger. After many prototypes (and more than a few lessons learned), I created a stable, durable, whisper-quiet wheel with a unique bearing system. That same design is now at the heart of every LittleLegs wheel we make.

It was Day One of the LittleLegs story. We looked at the finished wheel, smiled, and agreed — it was good.

But then another thought crossed my mind...

Wouldn't it be fun if the wheel had its own little speedometer?

Imagine seeing your pet's speed, distance, and running time displayed right on the wheel, just like the dashboard in a car. So we set out to build exactly that. It meant redesigning the wheel yet again and diving into electronics, but the result was worth every late night.

It was Day Two, and once again, we looked at what we'd built. We were so happy and saw that it was good!

Then came another idea.

Wouldn't it be even better if you could see all those statistics on your phone instead of peeking into the cage and interrupting your tiny athlete's workout?

So we built a mobile app that displays live running statistics on your phone or tablet. Don't worry — we kept the display on the wheel too. We liked it far too much to let it go.

That was Day Three, and when we looked at the app, we were so happy with the result and saw that it was good!

Of course, once you have live statistics, you start wondering...

What about yesterday's run? Last week's? Last month's?

So we added history, trends, average speed, top speed, distance, and running time. Suddenly, you could watch your little runner's progress over time.

That was Day Four. To be fair, Day Four was an exceptionally long day, but when we looked at the result, we were so happy when we saw that it was good!

By now, we realized all that data deserved a permanent home, so we ventured into the cloud. While we were there, we thought we might as well make things more fun. We added colorful charts, graphs, achievements, and other ways to explore your pet's activity and celebrate their accomplishments.

It was "Day 5", and when we looked at the app again, you guessed it — we were so happy — it was good!

Still, we weren't finished.

What's the fun in keeping all those adorable achievements to yourself?

So we made it possible to share your wheel and your pet's progress with friends and family. We also sprinkled the app with interesting facts, helpful tips, and the occasional groan-worthy joke, because every great app deserves at least a few smiles.

By Day Six, the LittleLegs ecosystem had grown well beyond a wheel. You can create running shifts for different pets, manage multiple wheels, organize your furry athletes into running squads, switch between metric and imperial units, receive notifications when a running session begins, and get a summary when it's over.

When we stepped back and looked at everything we've created so far, we were so happy and proud and — with complete bias — thought it was very good. Or, at least good enough to share with you. We hope that this is not where our story ends, as we hope it now continues with you.
